An Allegany resident was sentenced yesterday to 19 years to life in prison for stabbing and brutally beating another man. Gregory Farr, 22, of Allegany was sentenced early yesterday in Cattaraugus County Court for the murder of 58-year-old Stephen Balser. Farr stabbed Balser outside of a trailer park last October. The reason? Simply because Farr thought he was being disrespected. The prosecuting attorney said the sentence was fair coming from what the New York law states.
