Conserve water in Portville

The water in the Village of Portville is safe to drink, but officials are asking customers to conserve. A primary system pump failed. That has resulted in some low water pressure. Village officials expect the pump to be replaced in a day or to…until then, while the water is safe, officials ask village water users to scale back their use.

Crash in Portville - HAPPENING NOW

1:38pm: Sheriff's deputies report a two vehicle head-on crash on route 417 in Portville near the underpass. Four people hurt. Ambulances from Portville, Westons Mills and Olean 10 dispatched. Traffic detour in place.

Hunting accident update involving Portville man

A 70-year old Portville man is in "guarded" condition at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after he fell from a tree stand while hunting.
State Police tell WVTT news radio that  Robert Miller of Portville was seriously injured Saturday in a hunting accident in Livingston County.  The accident happened behind a residence on New Road in the Town of Leicester. Troopers said Miller was injured when he fell approximately 15 feet from his tree stand.
Miller was taken to Strong Hospital in Rochester with broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a laceration to his face. Troopers said  that Miller did not secure a safety strap while hunting, and fell after shooting at a deer.

Hunter from Portville injured

State Police tell WVTT news radio that 70-year old Robert Miller of Portville was injured at 10am Saturday morning in a hunting accident in Livingston County.  The accident happened behind a residence on New Road in the Town of Leicester. Troopers said Miller was injured when he fell approximately 15 feet from his tree stand.
Miller was transported to Strong Hospital in Rochester by Monroe Ambulance with broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a laceration to his face. Investigation by troopers at the scene indicated that Miller did not secure a safety strap while hunting, and fell after shooting at a deer.

Portville School has issued a Request for Quote

 The Portville Central School District is looking for quotes for Asbestos Abatement and the demolition of a recently acquired house. Contractors looking for work have until 2pm Friday to submit a Request for Quote to the school Superintendent. Info packets are available at the school’s business office.
