(Pictured, top to bottom: Andy Wolff, Greg Paige, Ben Thompson, Marianne Aboussou) Congratulations to Ben Thompson and Marianne Aboussou. They both have earned a spot in the Region 5 PMEA honor band by way of competitive audition.
On January 11-14, these students along with Andrew Wolfe and Greg Paige participated in the PMEA district 2 honor band where all students are assessed through an audition process and the highest scoring students advance to represent district 2 at the region level.
Ben Thompson had the highest scoring audition in the tuba section. Ben's accomplishment marks the fourth year in a row that at least one student from Ridgway has earned the highest score in their section.
Ben and Marianne will advance to represent Ridgway and PMEA District 2 at the PMEA Region 5 Festival to be held at West Shamokin HS Feb 23-25 where they will audition again for placements and for a spot in the PMEA All-State Band. PMEA Region 5 is made up of the schools in District 2 - Erie, Crawford, Warren, Elk, Cameron, McKean, Potter as well as the schools in District 3 - Venango, Forest, Clarion, Jefferson, Armstrong and Indiana Counties.
