Duke Center man accused of threatening couple with AK-47 rifle

A Duke Center man was arrested last night…charged by state police with making terroristic threats. Police said Jeremy Prescott was also charged with assault and harassment. Troopers said Prescott became involved in a verbal argument with a woman..then things heated up. Investigators said Prescott allegedly grabbed an AK-47 rifle and threatened to killed the woman and another man. Arraigned by District Magistrate Dominic Cercone he was released on his own recognizance.

Eldred...pick-up truck rolls...two men hurt when ejected

State Police say two men were injured when the pick-up truck they were in crashed and rolled early Sunday. Troopers said 22-year old Grant Preston of Duke Center was driving on route 446 in Eldred when he lost control of his vehicle. Police said the truck rolled over twice, ejecting Preston. Also tossed from the truck was a passenger...26-year old Phillip Nelson of Canisteo (Steuben County). Authorities said Nelson suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center. Troopers said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. After investigation, police arrested Preston and charged him with DUI. 

Kane---log truck plows into home---driver, occupants of house hurt

Kane...a loaded log truck slammed in to a house this morning. The driver and 

occupants were hurt and the home was demolished.

Serious injury in car-pedestrian accident in Ceres Township

UPDATE 10:45AM: Pennsylvania State Police in Kane have confirmed to WVTT NewsRadio that a pedestrian was killed last night after being struck by a vehicle. Troopers have not released the identity of the victim yet, but they plan to late Friday. The accident happened about 6pm Thursday night on Kings Run Road in Ceres Township. Troopers are not releasing any additional information at this time.

Pennsylvania state police based in Kane say they’re still investigating a car-pedestrian accident which happened about 6pm last night on Kings Run Road in Ceres Township. This morning, troopers could not confirm whether or not the pedestrian was fatally injured…as some non-official reports have said.  Several reports did indicate very serious injury. State police say they’ll release additional information later this morning.

Burglary at Canfield Lawn and Garden

State Police are investigating an overnight burglary in McKean County. Trooper Kramer from the Kane station responded early this morning to Canfield Lawn & Garden, located on Kings Run Road in Ceres Township. He said an unknown male suspects entered the business and removed about $300 in cash. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-778-5555.

Mailboxes smashed in McKean County

Pennsylvania State Police investigated an act of criminal mischief in front of the DeCasper Trailer Court on Route 219 in Lewis Run. Trooper Gausman said somebody smashed seven mailboxes in front of the trailer court. Troopers are asking for the public's help. Pennsylvania state police arrests

State police arrested 43-year old Earl Tubbs of Loucks Mills Road in Ulysses. Coudersport-based troopers said Tubbs was charged with Harassment after he allegedly grabbed a 48-year old woman by the neck during an argument.

Meanwhile, troopers from the Kane station arrested 36-year old James Kilpatrick of Cyclone. He was charged with DUI after police stopped him on Route 59 in Lafayette Township.

State police use tear gas to end armed stand-off

An armed stand off in McKean County ended early today. Scores of troopers surrounded a home at 5737 Route 646 in Keating Township. Roads were closed and after hours of negotiations, a State Police Special Emergency Response Team fired tear gas into the home. After a brief period, 27-year old Simon Peter Heffner surrendered. Just hours ago, he was jailed on $100,000 bail.


Prior to the arrival of troopers, Heffner had argued with his father, injuring him.

Armed stand off in McKean County. Major police response

State police in Kane have confirmed to WVTT news radio that there is an armed stand off near Ormsby. One man has barricaded himself inside a home. Law enforcement from in and outside of McKean County has responded including the state police special response team. Troopers have confirmed that as of 7:30pm, there have not been any injuries. WVTT mobile news unit #3 tells us some roads in the area have been closed.
State police say they'll release additional information as appropriate.
