Wellsville man asks judge to lower Facebook fine

Lawyers for Facebook are looking for $84,000 in legal fees from a Wellsville man after a judge ruled he caused delays in his lawsuit seeking part ownership in the social networking company.
The attorney for Paul Ceglia of Wellsville says the amount is too high.
A federal judge last month ordered Ceglia to pay Facebook's court costs for trying to force Ceglia to comply with an order to provide access to his email accounts.
New York City attorney Orin Snyder says the extra work cost $84,000.
In a response filed this week, Ceglia's lawyer, Dean Boland, asked the judge to reject that amount and come up with a figure that reflects Buffalo-area legal rates

Ceglia v. Facebook update

Paul Ceglia of Wellsville was sanctioned by a federal judge yesterday and ordered to pay $5,000 to the court. The judge also ordered  Ceglia to pay for part of Facebook's attorney fees and expenses, an amount likely to be substantially higher. The ruling by U.S. Magistrate Judge Leslie G. Foschio is the latest and, perhaps, most significant legal victory to date for Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.  Foschio, in ruling against Ceglia, cited his role in obstructing one of the judge's orders. The next step will have Facebook  moving for a dismissal of the case.
