Bradford man charged with possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction

A Bradford man who was arrested last week on stalking  charges was arraigned Friday  before District Judge Rich  Luther for allegations he possessed an explosive. Eric E. Cramer, 42, of 223  Onofrio St., is charged with  weapons of mass destruction, a  second-degree felony, causing  or risking catastrophe, a third degree felony, prohibited offensive weapons, a first-degree  misdemeanor, carrying explosives and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors,  court records said. According to court records,  police executed a search warrant Dec. 21 for his pick-up  truck they obtained for the stalking investigation, where police  allegedly found and seized the  explosive device from the back  pocket of the truck’s passenger  front seat. The stalking charges stem  from allegations that he put  a GPS tracking device on a  pick-up truck belonging to Susan  Grady-Dewer, showed up at  places where she was, slashed  her truck’s tires and put sugar  in her gas tank, court records  indicated. At the time the most recent  charges were filed, Cramer  was in McKean County Jail in  lieu of $20,000 for the stalking  charges. Following his arraignment for the explosive device  charges, he was sent back to jail  in lieu of an additional $100,000  bail. A preliminary hearing is  scheduled for Jan. 5

Man found dead in Bradford hotel

A Lewis Run man was found dead in a room at the Comfort Inn in Bradford on Wednesday morning. According to the Bradford Era, the 46 year old was pronounced dead in his room at the hotel by McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill, who said the cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology report. McKean County District Attorney Ray Learn said, “It is under investigation. There were no outward signs of violence” that would indicate foul play. Bradford City Police Chief Chris Lucco agreed that foul play is not suspected.

Fire forces Bradford family from home

A fire in the city of Bradford last night forced a family of six from their Jackson Avenue home. Grease sparked the blaze which consumed the kitchen area and caused about $15,000 in damage. The two adults and four children escaped the home without injury. Firefighters were working with Red Cross responders to find temporary housing. The fire was reported at 6:20pm.

A boil water advisory continues for some customers of the Bradford City Water Authority. The advisory was put in place on Nov. 22 for some customers after a water main line break on South Center Street. Authority Executive Director Kim Benjamin said on Monday they are just waiting to receive laboratory test results showing the water is safe before the advisory can be lifted. He said Wednesday will be the earliest that he may receive the results, but added it will probably be Thursday before they have all the test samples back. The advisory was amended on Nov. 23 to exclude many of the outlying areas of the authority’s customer base. The advisory has been lifted for the following customers: those south of Owens Way and U.S. Route 219 to Route 59 including those in Custer City, Minard Run Road, Lewis Run Borough, the Federal Correctional Institution-McKean and Bradford Regional Airport. Also excluded are customers from Stephen Lane to Marilla Reservoir on West Washington Street, those from Harrisburg Run to Olean Road in Derrick City, and those from the intersection of Interstate Parkway and Stone Avenue northwest to Sullivan Road in Bradford Township. All other customers remain under the boil water advisory.

Bradford water UPDATE

 A voluntary water conservation request to customers of the Bradford City Water Authority has been lifted, but the boil-water advisory remains in place, said authority Executive Director Kim Benjamin Friday afternoon. The authority asked customers to conserve water after a water main break in Bradford City on Tuesday. The request was lifted Friday because water storage levels have returned to normal, said Benjamin. The boil-water advisory, which is only an advisory and not an order, has not changed since Wednesday, when the advisory was lifted for some, but not all customers. Benjamin said the advisory will be extending into next week, but it is just a matter of awaiting laboratory results at this point. The advisory was lifted for the following customers: those south of Owens Way and U.S. Route 219 to Route 59 including those in Custer City, Minard Run Road, Lewis Run Borough, the Federal Correctional Institute-McKean and the Bradford Regional Airport. Also excluded are customers from Stephen Lane to Marilla Reservoir on West Washington Street, those from Harrisburg Run to Olean Road in Derrick City, and those from the intersection of Interstate Parkway and Stone Avenue northwest to Sullivan Road in Bradford Township. Thanksgiving Day water UPDATE for Bradford

While a boil-water advisory remains in place for many Bradford City Water Authority customers, the restriction has been lifted for other users, said authority Executive Director Kim Benjamin Wednesday. The advisory was put in place after a water main line broke on South Center Street in Bradford Tuesday morning. The authority lost about four million gallons of stored water after the break. The authority and the state Department of Environmental Protection have modified the boil advisory to exclude higher elevations served by unaffected pump stations and water storage tanks. No longer under the advisory are customers south of Owens Way and U.S. Route 219 to Route 59 including those in Custer City, Minard Run Road, Lewis Run Borough, Federal Correctional Institute-McKean and the Bradford Regional Airport. Also excluded are customers from Stephen Lane to Marilla Reservoir on West Washington Street, those from Harrisburg Run to Olean Road in Derrick City, and those from the intersection of Interstate Parkway and Stone Avenue northwest to Sullivan Road in Bradford Township, according to Benjamin. “All other customers remain under a Boil Water Advisory as issued November 22nd until further notice,” he said. 

BOIL WATER IN BRADFORD

Due to a break in a twenty inch water line in Bradford, a BOIL WATER advisory is in effect until further notice. The break has cause NO to LOW water pressure throughout the water district.

Thirty years in prison

A Bradford man will spend up to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child. 49-year old Donald Kinney was sentenced in McKean County court on Thursday. Prosecutors said Kinney had a sexual relationship with a nine year old over a six year period. 

House fire in Bradford causes $100,000 damage

Damaged has been pegged at $100,000 in a weekend fire in Bradford.  The home of Barry and Barb Sera on Lorana Avenue sustained significant damage, as did an attached garage. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation. Bradford City and Township and firefighters from Derrick City all responded.
