Kaylynn Benson pleads guilty to murder

From Potter County…It was supposed to be a court hearing this morning to determine whether 16-year old murder suspect Kaylynn Benson would be tried in adult or juvenile court…but there was a sudden change of plans.  According to WVTT News Director Michael Baldwin, the hearing turned into an admission. The Potter County District Attorney's office confirmed this morning that the 16-year old pleaded guilty to the murder charge. Benson and two others were accused of killing 18-year old Samuel Miller of Eldred last June. Another co-defendant, 20-year old Jonathan Prather also pleaded guilty to murder last month. He’ll be sentenced later this month. Benson will be sentenced May 1st.

Potter County teen charged with murder has court hearing today

A 16-year old Potter County girl…charged with murder…will be in court this morning to determine whether she will be tried as an adult or juvenile. Kaylynn Benson and two others are accused of killing 18-year old Samuel Miller of Eldred last June. One defendant has already admitted to the crime…the third stands trial in May. Prosecutors want Benson tried in adult criminal court. They say Miller was shot eight times and his body was dragged to a stream. DA Andy Watson says the circumstances warrant adult court. The hearing begins at 9am.
