Are Teachers in NY Getting A Passing Grade?

Governor Andrew Cuomo is looking to get legislation passed that would make teacher evaluations public without interfering with privacy issues. Cuomo nearly missed the deadline to submit a bill that would give parents limited access to their children’s teacher evaluations. Teachers names would not be made public, but the ratings of school’s teachers would be public and a website would be made by the state to view ratings. In a statement the governor said he believes the bill is a way to balance teacher’s privacy and the public’s right to know. Legislative leaders have said they will review Cuomo’s bill.
