Allegany man indicted by Grand Jury on Murder and other counts

Lori P. Rieman, Cattaraugus County District Attorney, reported the following Indictment was handed up in Cattaraugus County Court on Thursday, December 01, 2011:

GREGORY E. FARR, d/o/b 9/3/1989, of Allegany, New York, but presently incarcerated in the Cattaraugus County Jail, has been indicted by a Cattaraugus County Grand Jury and charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-I violent felony; Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B violent felony; Assault in the First Degree, a class B violent felony; and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor.  The indictment charges that on or about October 24, 2011, in the Town of Allegany, the defendant caused the death of Steven L. Balser.  Arraignment has been scheduled for December 5, 2011.
