ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Arkansas State (3-4) erased a 13-point halftime deficit by shooting 60.9 percent from the field in the second frame to claim a 58-52 win over St. Bonaventure (2-3) at the Reilly Center Thursday evening.
The Bonnies led 47-33 after Charlon Kloof's fastbreak dunk with 10:51 to play, but were held without a field goal from there as the Red Wolves scored 25 of the game's final 30 points to steal the win.
Trey Finn hit one of his four 3-pointers with 5:01 left to give Arkansas State a lead it would not relinquish. The Bonnies missed their final 11 attempts from the field while the Red Wolves, who hit 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, converted over 60 percent during the final 20 minutes to come from behind.
Kloof scored a career-high 11 points and hit a trio of 3-pointers, while senior forward Da'Quan Cook tallied 14 and grabbed seven rebounds. Andrew Nicholson snared a game-high nine boards and added six points despite being slowed by bronchitis.
Kirkland Malcolm paced the Red Wolves with 14 points and nine rebounds. Ed Townsel made three triples and booked 13 points.
The Bonnies return to action Saturday at Buffalo (4-1).
NOTES: Kloof was the first reserve off the bench ... he nearly doubled his career scoring total (23 points) ... Nicholson blocked three shots in the first half to bring his career total to 195 ... just one other player in school history has more than 200 (Caswell Cyrus, 289) ... the senior moved to 15th on the career rebounds ledger (657) and ranks 12th in scoring (1,584).
