Rural Areas in PA to Receive Grants to Guard Against Threat of Fires

More than $540,000 in grants will be awarded to help Pennsylvania’s rural communities guard against the threat of fires in forests and other undeveloped areas. the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the grants on Monday. In McKean County, the Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department received a grant for $1,561, and the Kane Volunteer Fire Department Inc. received $2,900. In Potter County, the Germania Fire Co. local firefighting forces in rural areas or communities with fewer than 10,000 residents may qualify for the aid.
