New Scholarship Program for PA Students in Failing Schools

The Pennsylvania State legislature has created the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program, which will use private money to fund scholarships for low and moderate-income students in failing schools. Senator Judy Schwank says that she hopes that the pilot program will make a difference for at least some students in poor performing schools in Pennsylvania. A total of $50 million dollars is available for this upcoming school year. The money comes from Pennsylvania businesses that donate the money to scholarship programs in exchange for tax credits.
