Senator Schumer Wants to Put a Stop to Babies Being Born Addicted to Drugs

US Senator Charles Schumer wants to put a stop to babies being born addicted to drugs. Sunday Schumer made an announcement addressing the issue of babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome or NAS every hour, and that rate is especially high in New York. Infants with NAS are born addicted to prescription painkillers and other drugs, an issue that Senator Schumer is calling a crisis. Schumer has made a three point plan to address the NAS crisis, which includes informing parents of the risk of taking prescription drugs during pregnancy and educating doctors to better identify the symptoms of NAS.
