New Amendment to Farm Bill Means Good News For Rural Areas

There is good news for farmers in New York State. Senator Charles Schumer released a list of communities that could benefit from an amendment to the Farm Bill that passed the U.S. Senate last week. The amendment would change the definition of rural areas to make more communities rural infrastructure projects eligible for special U.S. Department of Agriculture programs. Senator Schumer is asking for the House of Representatives to include the Senate's updated provisions in their version of the bill. If the provisions pass there could be in increase in construction jobs. However, none of the communities on Schumer’s list were in Cattaraugus or Allegany Counties.
