Repairs on Olean Sewage Treatment Plant is Wrapping Up

In Olean, work is wrapping up on repairs to the city's sewage treatment digesters. The city's sewage treatment plant of South 19th Street has four giant pools that hold and heat the waste so that bacteria can decompose it. They're 73 years old, and after the work is complete in another couple of weeks, city public works director Tom Windus says they'll last another 50 plus years.
