Cattaraugus County Men Awarded State Liberty Medal

Three Cattaraugus County men are being called heroes for jumping into action during an accident on the I-86 near Salamanca back in October. On Friday, State Senator Catharine Young presented the State Liberty Medal to Jeremy Ellis, Josh Rhow and Michael Soper. Ellis and Rhow pulled victims from a pickup and a burning SUV, while Soper, the Fire Chief in Limestone and an EMT, helped treat the victims until more help arrived. The Liberty Medal is presented in the name of the New York State Senate to individuals for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts and achievements.
