Advocates for Individuals with Mental Health Needs Gathered Yesterday

Pennsylvania Law Makers and advocates for individuals who have mental health needs, gathered in the State Capitol yesterday afternoon to express their serious concerns around a proposed block grant for human services supported by Governor Tom Corbett. The proposal, slated to begin in less than a week - on July 1, 2012, would consolidate county appropriations including: Mental Health Community Programs, Intellectual Disabilities Community Base, County Child Welfare Special Grants, Homeless Assistance Program, drug and alcohol services under Act 152, Behavioral Health Services Initiative and the Human Service Development Fund into one appropriation - the Human Services Block Grant.
