Frosts Leed to a Call for a Disaster Relief Declaration

Because of the frosts in NY that started back in late March, Senator Young is reaching out to Governor Cuomo to ask for his help. The unseasonable warm weather followed by freezing temperatures especially affected fruit growers. Because growers depend on their crops and so much has been lost this season due to the temperatures, Senator Young wrote a letter to Governor Cuomo in which she asked for a federal disaster relief declaration, which would allow farmers in need of extra help to qualify for grants and loans. This aid will help to lessen the crushing impact of the untimely freeze events and ensure that our agriculture sector remains viable.
