Corning man wanted in the connection of a Homicide dies when he jumps in front of a train in PA


On April 20, 2012, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police began a homicide investigation in the Town of Dix, in Schuyler County, NY.
Killed sometime between 10:00PM and 11:00PM was 31 year old Daniel Bennett while he was home at his residence on Pearl Street in the Town of Dix.
Investigators from both departments followed leads for two days when information was developed that Thomas Borden, age 32, from Corning, NY may have been involved in the homicide.
Early Monday, April 23, 2012, the Schuyler County Sheriff announced that an Violent Felony Warrant had been issued for Mr. Borden.
Investigators from both the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department and the State Police were led into Pennsylvania, where they believed Mr. Borden to be. At approximately 8:00am Mr. Borden led police in a vehicle pursuit down Route 309 near Jenkintown, PA., and then fled his vehicle on foot. At approximately 10:30am, today, Mr. Borden was spotted on foot by authorities in Jenkintown, PA. Police approached Mr. Borden and started to question him when he fled. The foot chase ended when Mr. Borden jumped in front of a SEPTA Commuter Train. Mr. Borden was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
