New York State Troopers in Troop A Recognized


Lieutenant Kevin M. Barnas, Acting Zone Two Commander, Troop “A” announces the recipients of the 2011 Special Recognition Awards. A ceremony was held for the following members at Troop “A” Headquarters on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 where they were presented with the award for their performance during 2011:
Trooper Christopher Rodler - trooper Rodler has been a member of the New York State Police for approximately seven years and is presently stationed at SP Clarence. Trooper Rodler has distinguished himself in the areas of criminal enforcement and highway safety enforcement during 2011. During 2011 Trooper Rodler was the recipient of a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from Medaille College after completing an arduous program designed for accelerated graduate studies.
Trooper Michael Niezgoda - trooper Niezgoda has been a member of the New York State Police for eighteen years and he has been assigned to the SP Clarence Interstate Patrol for the last 7 years. He has distinguished himself in the area highway safety enforcement during 2011. As a member of the Troop A Motorcycle Unit, he represented the State Police at numerous community events throughout Western New York. Trooper Niezgoda also serves our country as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the United States Marine Corps.
Trooper Stephen J. Przystal - Trooper Przystal has been a member of the New York State Police for eight years and he is presently stationed at SP Holland. He has distinguished himself in the area highway safety enforcement during 2011. Trooper Przystal serves as a Patrol Rifleman, and also volunteers for assignment to the City of Buffalo Operation Impact Detail.
Trooper Merle Schreckengost - Trooper Schreckengost has been a member of the New York State Police for seventeen years and he is currently assigned to the SP Boston Interstate Patrol. He has distinguished himself in the areas of highway safety enforcement and criminal enforcement during 2011. He also serves our country as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves.
Trooper Gregory E. Egloff - Trooper Egloff has been a member of the New York State Police for seven years and he is presently stationed at SP Warsaw. He has distinguished himself in the areas of criminal enforcement and highway safety enforcement during 2011. Trooper Egloff is a member of the Mobile Field Unit, and he also volunteers for assignment to Buffalo Operation Impact.
Zone Sergeant Joseph Wilkinson - Zone Sergeant Wilkinson has been a member of the New York State Police for over 22 years and was appointed to the rank of Zone Sergeant in June of 2006. Zone Sergeant Wilkinson serves as the Zone II Traffic Supervisor and has proven to be creative in targeting aggressive and dangerous drivers on Western New York roadways. Zone Sergeant Wilkinson continues to oversee the initiative of targeting the State Route 33, Kensington Expressway corridor which is designed to remove aggressive and drunk drivers from this dangerous stretch of highway. In addition, he maintains an outstanding relationship with our Counter-Terrorism Unit and he coordinates the assignment of uniform members at various enforcement initiatives at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and international bridge crossings.
