Kane Cheerleaders end great season

The Kane Cheerleading Competition Team travelled to Cheer LTD Nationals and came back with a 2nd and a 3rd Runner-up in Medium Varsity and Small Varsity Non-Tumble respectively this past weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  The parent team also made an amazing showing of their routine at the Friday night Pep Rally with Coach Patricia Horton making a special guest appearance near the end of the routine to the delight of the thousands in attendance.  Brittany Kowatch and Kayla Kerner also competed in the tumble offs at the rally as well as Jordan Huntzinger competing in the jump off.  All 3 girls represented Kane well and were right in the middle of the competition, but did not end up placing.

Coach Niklaus Comments:  This was an amazing year for the entire team.  We had 9 rookies of the 16 on the team this year.  To do as well as we did all season and finish in the top at Nationals is a testament to the hard work these student athletes put into their season.  As a team, we were a little disappointed in our finish in the Non-tumble routine as we had a real chance to win.  Our team did not put our best on the floor for the 2 non-tumble routines and still finished only 9 points from being National Champions.   Our biggest regret is not hitting those 2 routines like we could have and what place we would have received if we did hit them.  The big shock was how well we finished in the Medium Varsity tumbling division.  We had a routine for the ages on the second day, which was from the heart and it came across on the floor for their final performance.   This last routine was one of the best, if not the best, a Kane team has ever put on a floor at a National Event.   It is one the coaching staff and team will not soon forget and raises the bar for teams to come in the future.  We graduate 4 seniors and hope to return all 12 underclassman.  If we can do that, we should be real contenders next year.  Overall, this season was a huge success and we feel we met our goals of representing our school and community to the best of our ability and will continue to strive for that National Championship in years to come.
