Law union reaches deal with Cuomo

The Cuomo administration and a union representing law enforcement personnel say they've got a tentative deal on a long-delayed new contract for some members. They say about 1,600 New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association members working in security jobs at state facilities will get some layoff protections. Pay will be frozen through 2013. There are retroactive increases of 3 percent for 2009, when the previous contract expired, and 4 percent for 2010.
