Late Heroics Help Van Tatenhove Garner A-10 Player of the Week Honors

Following a week in which she hit a game-winning shot and recorded her seventh career double-double, Atlantic 10 Conference officials named senior Megan Van Tatenhove as the A-10 Player of the Week on Monday.

Van Tatenhove hit a contested, off-handed basket with 23 seconds remaining on Saturday to complete a 15-point road comeback against Dayton. The 56-55 win kept the Bonnies (24-2, 11-0 A-10) in firm position of first place in the league, stretched their program-best winning streak to 13 straight and moved their road record to a nation-best 12-0.

The Wisconsin native finished with 17 points and corralled eight rebounds against a Dayton squad which SBU held to its fewest point total in its 10 conference games. Thirteen of Van Tatenhove's game-high point total came in the first half as the Bonnies, ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press Poll last week, staved off a 19-4 deficit not even seven minutes in to trail by just one at the half.

This past Wednesday, the forward scored a team-high-tying 17 points as part of a 69-54 victory at Massachusetts. Van Tatenhove also grabbed 10 rebounds as she secured her second double-double in conference action this season.

Van Tatenhove and the Bonnies have a bye this Wednesday, but return to the Reilly Center on Saturday in front of a Homecoming Weekend crowd versus Xavier. The 2 p.m. game will be broadcast nationally by CBS Sports Network and is the first of a doubleheader with the men's team.
