Kane Cheerleading Press Release

The Kane Competition Cheerleading team had a busy weekend and still managed to come home with two first place trophies for their efforts.  Their weekend started off with joining the other varsity cheerleaders in supporting the Lady Wolves Basketball team at Dubois on Friday night at the AML Playoff game and continued with that support on Saturday night at the AML Championship game.  On Saturday morning the Competition Team attended the District IX Invitational at Elk County Catholic High School.  They had an amazing routine that was without a doubt the crowd favorite.  Unfortunately, the judges did not reward them for their performance and didn’t finish in the top 2.  Elk County Catholic won the DIX title for the 4th year in a row.  On Sunday the team travelled to a regional competition and went to Clearfield Area High School where they won 1st in the Varsity Division and then competed another routine that won 1st in the Non-Tumble Division as well.

Coach Niklaus Comments:  This was a bittersweet weekend for us.  For the first time in many years, we felt we were contenders in the District IX and all the pieces were in order with other teams making major mistakes throughout the competition.  However, the judges didn’t give us credit for what we had on the floor that day.  The coaching staff was very pleased with the way the team rebounded on Sunday and put two amazing routines on the floor within an hour of each other.  This team has gotten steadily better all season long and will do anything we try to throw at them to accomplish.  Our goal has always been to get better each time out and peak in mid-March at Nationals in Myrtle Beach.  The way the team responded this past weekend was a positive thing for us as we near the end of our season.  We will actually get more than 1 day of practice now and with practice they will get even better.  We can’t wait to see what this team will accomplish and are very proud of them.  They will be in action this Sunday at the Ultimate Cheer Competition in Emporium.
