Art of the Heart Project Seeks Community Support

The Bradford Area School District, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce are seeking community support for a new project called Art of the Heart. Art of the Heart, intended to encourage compassion within the Bradford community, is a project designed to engage students in expressing their vision of compassion through art.

The project will bring together students in the area schools and students at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford to create a mosaic of ceramic tiles, with each tile depicting the student’s vision of compassion. The mural of tiles will be displayed for the public in the late spring. At the conclusion of the public display, the tiles will be given away to area businesses, schools, and offices to act as an ongoing reminder of the importance of compassion in our daily lives.

Community members can support the Art of the Heart project in many ways: by attending the showing of the mosaic; continuing the conversation about compassion with students, co-workers, and family members; resolving to be more compassionate themselves. They are also asked to consider making a monetary donation to help with the purchase of the tiles and other materials. Donations of any size are gratefully accepted, and are being collected through the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce at 121 Main Street, Bradford, PA.

Questions concerning the Art of the Heart project may be directed to Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ron Orris at 814-368-7115 or University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Associate Professor Betsy Matz at 814-362-7639.
