The planned construction of a YMCA in Wellsville has been scrapped…at least for now. The church which had offered the land for development has rescinded its offer. Church officials said there was just too much public consternation over the North Main Street site. Olean YMCA Executive Director Jeff Alevy was there when the news was delivered. He said his hope was another Wellsville location could be found…one that has less controversy. Andy Glanzman is a Wellsville business leader. He commended the Olean YMCA and all it offers. He said he hopes Wellsville can bring the Y to Allegany County.
