Salamanca teacher pleads not guilty to sex-related charges

 A Salamanca Central School teacher pleaded not guilty in Salamanca City Court Friday to charges he had inappropriate communication by cellular telephone and sexual contact with a 15-year-old female student. The alleged incidents happened between September to November of 2011. According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, eighth grade science teacher Shane Riethmiller, 39, of Dunkirk, pleaded not guilty to two felonies counts of distributing indecent material to minors, promotion of sexual performance of a child,also a felony and endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree sexual abuse, both misdemeanors. He is accused of having sexual contact with the 15-year-old and sending her and receiving from her sexually explicit text messages and nude photographs. Riethmiller waived his right to a felony hearing and the case has been sent to Cattaraugus County Court.
