Buffalo man arrested for Craiglist scam


On December 16, 2011 the New York State Police in Lockport arrested CALVIN O. CAUDLE, age 39, of East Delavan Ave., Buffalo, NY for Grand Larceny 4th and Scheme to Defraud 1st, class E felonies.
On December 5, 2011 Troopers in Lockport received a complainant from a Lockport resident who responded to a Craigslist posting for a house for rent in the Town of Lockport. The investigation revealed that the victim paid CAUDLE over one thousand dollars for the first months rent and security deposit for a property that he did not own or have the authority to rent out.
CAUDLE was arraigned before Town of Lockport Judge RAYMOND SCHILLING and was remanded to the Niagara County Jail on no bail. CAUDLE was also found to have an outstanding warrant from Florida for fraud related charges.
The investigation revealed that CAUDLE has been involved in similar scams involving Craigslist. Anyone who has had any contact with or has been a victim of a scam involving CAUDLE is asked to contact Inv. JOHN DIPASQUALE at SP Lockport, 716-434-5588.
