ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – High school senior Patrick Milkovich has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the St. Bonaventure University golf team, head coach John Powers announced today.

A six-year letterwinner at Vestal High School, Milkovich recorded a 35.5 stroke average (9 holes) last year during his junior year, and 36.2 stroke average in his senior year. He holds the 9-hole course record at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y. by firing a 32. A member of the past two Section IV Class A Championship teams, Milkovich finished fourth in the 2011 New York High School State Championship.

"We could not be more pleased with the addition of Patrick to the golf team," said Powers. "He is a very talented player and has built a reputation of success through a phenomenal work ethic. We are looking forward to his continued success at the collegiate level as we push to become an elite Atlantic 10 program."

Milkovich finished first in both the Central New York PGA Junior Championship and the New York State PGA Junior Championship. He also came in second place at the New York Golf Association Junior Championship this past summer.

A member of the National Honor Society and student council, Milkovich serves as class secretary. He is the son of Stephen and Cindy Milkovich and has two sisters, Michelle and Marisa.

Milkovich is the lone signee of the early fall signing period. Powers plans to add more commitments during another NLI period in the spring as he will lose just one senior off the current Bona roster, Kevin Lewis, to graduation in May.
