Man Charged With Student Murder Pleads Not Guilty

The man that police say murdered his 18-year-old girlfriend while visiting her at college is in jail this morning in Monroe County.  21-year-old Clayton Whittemore is alleged to have initially told NY state troopers that he intentionally killed his girlfriend Alexandra Kougt while visiting her at SUNY Brockport. Kougt’s body was found badly beaten on Saturday morning after campus police received a complaint from Kougt’s mother who said that she was not able to reach her daughter. The cause of death was ruled blunt force trauma. Last night students at SUNY Brockport rallied in her honor wearing purple to raise awareness of domestic violence. Whittemore pleaded not guilty to a murder charge over the weekend.
