Investigation Ongoing For Trucks Hitting Low Bridges

Monday Senator Schumer called on the Federal Department of Transportation to conduct an investigation into the dramatic increase in commercial trucks hitting low bridges in attempts to drive under them. Senator Schumer wants to highlight the issue of low bridges across the state, and issue nation-wide standards for Global Positioning System known as GPS, devices in trucks. Schumer pointed to the shocking regularity with which trucks are striking overpasses after being led onto roads they shouldn’t be on by GPS devices, and noted that no rules govern the use of such devices in commercial vehicles.
