Hydraulic Oil Spill Yesterday Afternoon

Crews in Ridgway and Elk County Hazmat spent several hours yesterday afternoon cleaning up 30 gallons of hydraulic oil. It happened just after 3 at Depot and Front Streets and Route 120. Sand and other containment means were used to soak up the slippery oil which caused a hazardous driving condition and was tracked as far as Boot Jack Hill by passing vehicles. Rain at the time also washed some into nearby Elk Creek. The Department of Environmental Protection was also on site and satisfied with the clean up.
