Community Showing Support For Struggling Organization

While the ongoing investigation into missing funds continues, those with the Elk County Humane Society say the community has been instrumental in keeping their doors open and operating. Former treasurer of the organization, Richard Danz, is awaiting extradition back from North Carolina to face charges in connection with the missing funds. Meanwhile, the organization and it's volunteer staff continue to struggle to remain afloat to remain operational. Members say the community has rallied around with an outpouring of support. The agency cannot account for over five hundred thousand dollars missing since the 47-year-old St. Mary's resident was in control of the finances. He faces other charges involving other people as well.
