New Legislation Requiring Minors to Have Parents Signature Before Getting Piercing

A bill was passed yesterday by both the New York state senate and NY assembly that will help keep teens safe. Minors will now need written parental consent before receiving any body piercing, a law that was signed by Governor Cuomo to help cut back on teens getting infections and blood-borne diseases attained through body piercing. Governor Cuomo says that body piercing can result in severe health risks and it is our obligation as New Yorkers and parents to make sure that our teens are taking every precaution to remain health and safe. About 20 percent of all body piercing result in infection.
