Fatal Crash in Wetmore Township

A crash in Wetmore Townhsip Wednesday evening claimed the life of an Eldred woman and left her daughter with injuries. It happened just west of Midway Road on US Route 6 just before 5:30p. Kane based State Police say the vehicle driven by 57 year old Bernice Pierson went off the roadway after failing to negotiate a curve, traveled some 265 feet through a field before striking a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 24 year old daughter Meghan was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of her injuries.
