Congressman Reed Addresses Problem of Dangerous Roadway on I-86

Congressman Tom Reed was pleased by yesterday's recognition from the New York State Department of Transportation that the hazardous condition of I-86 on Seneca Nation territory needs to be addressed immediately. Reed said the delay in beginning work has already cost a good portion of the construction season, and work must begin as soon as possible to mitigate the safety threats faced by motorists who use I-86. The Congressman was also disappointed that the state has chosen to tie an unrelated issue, a disagreement over gaming revenues, to the reconstruction of the highway, they are separate issues, and for the state to jeopardize the safety of those who use the highway by introducing a casino-related financial dispute into the situation is very troubling.
