Eastview Elementary Raised Money for Recreation Center

The elementary school fundraised over $1,000 for the William O. Smith Recreation Center in Olean after winning the 2011 NFL Play 60 Super School grant. The $10,000 grant was awarded to 34 schools, including Eastview, in order to get kids active for 60 minutes every day. Eastview Elementary promised to give back to the community on their application, and the students raised the donated money by walking for pledges from family, friends and community members. Director of Youth Bureau and Recreation Department John Anastasia thanked everyone involved in the donation at last night's common council meeting.
