Pubic Hearing TONIGHT! 6PM

There will be a public hearing tonight at 6pm before the Olean Common Council meeting to discuss water and sewage rates in the city. The discussion will be to amend the water rates of Section 27-22, and an amendment to the sewer rates of Section 27-167 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Olean. Each, has been approved in the 2012/2013 Budget, with an increase of 1%. Theses news schedules will be applied starting June 1^st of this year. The new water rates states that domestic households who use between 5 thousand and 8 thousand gallons of water will be charged a base rate of 39 dollars and 16 cents and then and additional 7 dollars and 83 cents for every one thousand gallons used. 

Pursuant to Sec. 27-22.  Rates and charges.

The Water Department shall implement a new schedule of water rates to become effective June 1, 2012 and reflected in the bills sent out in June 2012, as follows:

Domestic Rates

First            8,000 gallons            $62.65 (minimum charge 5,000 gallons with a rate of $39.16, then $7.83 per 1000 gallons)           

Next            30,000 gallons            $6.50 per 1000 gallons           

Next            40,000 gallons            $5.80 per 1000 gallons           

Thereafter;                        $5.20 per 1000 gallons           

Commercial Rates

First            8,000 gallons            $62.65 (minimum)           

Next            30,000 gallons            $7.20 per 1000 gallons           

Next            40,000 gallons            $6.50 per 1000 gallons           

Thereafter;                        $5.20 per 1000 gallons

Ten percent shall be added to water rent for non-payment on or before the last day of the month in which the bill is rendered.

Pursuant to Sec. 27-167.  Same - Sewage Rates.

The Water Department shall implement a new schedule of water rates to become effective June 1, 2012 and reflected in the bills sent out in June 2012, as follows:

(a)  For sewer rates provided within the boundaries of the city, sewer rental rates shall be as follows:

(1)  Sewer rates for Group I (Residential) shall be $7.45 per 1000 gallons of metered water consumption at the premises.  The minimum quarterly sewer rent shall be 5000 gallons for Group I.

(2)  Sewer rates for Group II (Commercial) shall be $7.45 per 1000 gallons of metered water consumption at the premises.  The minimum quarterly sewer rent shall be 8000 gallons.

(3)  Sewer rates for Group III (Industrial) shall be $5.87 per 1000 gallons of metered water consumption at the premises. The minimum quarterly sewer rent shall be 75,000 gallons.

(b)  For sewer services provided outside the City of Olean, the rates shall from time to time in each case be as established by the common council.
