Rumor of planned violence overwhelm school

Some parents in the Bolivar-Richburg school district say they are keeping their kids home today….based on social media claims of a planned shooting at the school today.  Administrators say the threats are rumors and are simply untrue. Just the same, they held a meeting last night to answer questions from parents and officials say unspecified security measures have been stepped up this morning. The chatter has been ongoing since last month and has been fueled by Facebook posting. Despite assurances from the school, some parents remain understandably concerned. Administrators say they believe the whole matter has escalated out of proportion.
