Be very aware of school buses today. New York State Police are participating in “Operation Safe Stop” throughout the day. Officers will be on school buses, and on bus routes that have a history of illegal passing complaints. The goal of Operation Safe Stop is to proactively educate motorists about the dangers of passing stopped school buses. As a reminder…it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing.
