Cattaraugus County Sheriff adding a medical responder

Residents who live in Cattaraugus County may soon notice that one of their deputies will have more than just a badge. The County Legislature is allowing the Sheriff to apply for an Emergency Medical Services certificate for the department. Board Chairman Norm Marsh says the deputy who gets certified as EMT will become a medical first responder in case somebody gets hurt on the job. Marsh said it’s a several month process.
