Cattaraugus-Allegany counties: Judges and D A's likely to get hefty pay increases

Area District Attorneys’ and Judges are about to receive a hefty pay increase, under a New York State mandate. In New York, county District Attorneys’ salaries are linked with judicial salaries. The state legislature failed to stop the new pay plan which takes effect this month. The end result for Cattaraugus and Allegany County judges and DA’S…a salary boost to  $140,300 a year…that’s up from $119,800 per year. The state will pick up 100% of the increase for the next 12 months, but only 41% in the following four years. In Allegany County, lawmakers will be asked to approve the increase when they meet this afternoon.
