Kane Cheerleading Press Release

The Kane Cheerleading Competition team traveled to the McDowell Cheer Challenge in Erie, PA on Saturday and came home with a 1st place in the Varsity Non-Tumble Division and a 3rd place in the Large Varsity Tumble Division.  They also came home with Grand Champion honors for the highest score among all Scholastic Divisions for the competition.  Again, the team also had a large following of fans at the competition, which definitely helped them on the day as well.  There was also a moment of silence in honor of the victims at Chardon High School.  Chardon was scheduled to bring 2 teams to the competition on Saturday and was unable to attend.

Coach Niklaus Comments:  This is the third weekend in a row this team has improved when they hit the floor and placed first with one of their routines.  We were again a little flat in our first routine, but on our second routine there was no doubt we are going to be ready to be in the running for a National Championship in two weeks.  I am not sure if we have had a team hit a routine like we did this weekend.  Those kids just went out there and owned the floor and it was obvious to everyone there who the winners were.  With another week and a half of practice before leaving for Myrtle Beach, we should even get better at the little things we need to improve on.  Our goals at the beginning of the season were to win a few locals, qualify for Nationals and bring home a 3rd place or better trophy at Nationals.   We have met two of those goals now and we will work hard over the next week and a half at practice to accomplish the last goal the weekend of March 15-19 at Nationals.
