Pennsylvania gas drilling impact fee now law

The impact fee for gas drillers in Pennsylvania is now law. Without benefit of a public ceremony, Gov. Tom Corbett’s office announced last night that he has signed the bill into law. The decision of whether to impose the fee will be left up to local governments. County commissioners in about 35 counties now have 60 days to decide if they’ll impose the 15-year impact fee on their local Marcellus Shale wells. The gas-drilling bill also would tough safety standards.
