Olean schools may close buildings by next school year

In two weeks, the Olean Board of Education is expected to vote whether or not it will close any buildings. Last night, the Finance Committee discussed the matter. They focused on two options…closing just two schools or close all four elementary buildings. The district is wrestling with a $3 million funding gap. Board member Mike Martello said they’d rather get rid of buildings than programs.
The Finance Committee learned that if they close just two buildings…they could likely make it happen by the next school years. Closing four buildings would take until at least 20-15.
