Olean Council takes first vote to cut funding to fire dept

The Olean Common Council last night voted 4-3 to cut the city fire department budget by $100,000. Council President Jim Brady, who sponsored the move, says more city cuts are possible. The move still requires another vote of the Common Council. If approved, it could lower the tax rate 1.4%.
