CONGRESSMAN REED CALLS FOR RELEASE OF IRANIAN PASTOR

Congressman Tom Reed has announced that he is supporting House Resolution 556, which would condemn the Government of Iran for its continued persecution, imprisonment, and sentencing to death of Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani.

“This man could be executed at any time simply because he will not repudiate his Christian faith,” Reed said. “As a nation dedicated to religious freedom for all faiths, I feel the United States must press for Pastor Nadarkhani’s release and the release of all who are held in Iran only because of their religious beliefs.”

Reed further noted that he supports the efforts of the State Department and White House, which are also calling on Iran to release Nadarkhani. Resolution 556 is currently being considered by the Foreign Affairs Committee and could be brought to the House floor at any time.
