Wellsville Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East State Street and Scott Avenue after a vehicle struck a utility pole breaking it in half. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and was later located on Trapping Brook Road in the Village. Police issued traffic tickets to Kyle G. Geer, age 22 of Wellsville, for leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, failure to reduce speed at a hazard, failure to stop at a stop sign and unsafe lane change. Geer is to appear in Wellsville Village Court on February 7th at 5 pm to answer the charges. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.
East State Street was closed around 4 am for several hours as the Village of Wellsville Electric department replaced the broken utility pole.
