Olean City School Board meets tonight --- will attempt to address budget issues

The Olean School District faces a $3M budget deficit. Tonight, the Board of Education will be presented findings on ways to reduce expenses and streamline the district. Administrators attribute the budget gap to New York’s 2% property tax cap, funding reductions and overall rising costs. A recent study examined all aspects of the district’s operation, including whether four elementary schools can be maintained. Board member Michael Martello was recently quoted as saying “I think it’s probably safe to say there will be change.”
The public meeting will be held at the high school auditorium at 6:30pm.
