Child dragged by bus in Livingston County

Press Release from state police:



This afteroon at approximately 2:40 PM, the New York State Police responded to a personal injury school bus accident on ST 436 in the town of Ossian (Livingston County). The investigation revealed John Coley Age 62, Wayland, NY was operating a 2007 Dansville Central School bus in a westerly direction on ST 436. A stop was made at 4369 ST 436 to drop off three sisters. As the last sister (8 years old), was exiting the bus, John Coley states he was not paying attention when he closed the door trapping the back pack of the 8 year old girl. John Coley then continued 900 feet before he realized the 8 year old girl was being dragged outside the school bus. The 8 year old girl received abrasions from this incident and was transported to Noyes Hospital by Dansville Ambulance. Another 8 year old kid was on the bus stated he hit his head on the seat in front of him when the bus came to a sudden stop which caused an ear ache. The New York State Police were assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff's office.
